Delivery

Marine Matters - DeliveryWe often hear owners say "What do I want a Delivery Skipper for, I move the boat myself" We can't argue with that but here are our top reasons for using a delivery service.

  1. The cost of a boat move to The Med on a Container ship is cheaper than a move by a professional crew, but the insurance is usually more than the cost of the cargo trip, therefore moves by sea are actually cheaper in the long run for some vessels.
  2. Time constraints on owners may mean that to cruise in their preferred locations they may have to employ a professional Skipper and Crew to move the boat rather than waste precious holiday time moving the vessel themselves.
  3. If you become storm bound and have to take the ferry or plane home it may work out cheaper to employ a delivery crew than to wait until you can get back to the boat. By the time you add up the extra marina fees etc you very soon will have a delivery crews costs covered, especially for a Channel dash.
  4. Professional crews look after boats.

At Marine Matters UK we realise that most owners want to cross the channel and do fairly short hops along the coast because their limited time on the water is fun not work. However if you want to boat in more far flung locations you may feel that you can get your vessel to them by using our delivery service. We will use our full time professional Skippers to take your boat by sea to any where you want to go, The Med, Northern France & the Channel Islands, Ireland, The Scilly Isles, The Isle of Man or the world famous Scottish West Coast cruising grounds.

Marine Matters - Assist

At Marine Matters UK we are passionate about educating people on their own boats. We hope that our students will eventually spread their wings and go on longer passages. However, even after you have done some RYA training with us you may not feel confident enough to make that first big trip. Whether it is crossing the Channel for the first time or crossing the Bay of Biscay our professional Skippers can assist. Once you've done it once you'll have opened up a completely new world to yourself, family and friends.

Some owners relish the idea of taking their boat by sea on a long sea voyage. At Marine Matters UK we will actively encourage this. Depending on the owners previous knowledge and experience they can come in place of a member of our crew, or possibly even as the second Skipper. Of course if you just want to come along for the ride we can run the boat without you.

All assisted passages will include FREE RYA TRAINING to an appropriate standard. The course syllabus followed will depend on the length of the passage and the prevailing weather conditions. Whatever happens you can rest assured that you would learn a lot from our professional Skippers.

  1. The Daily Fee refers to a 24 hour day only when continuous running is required. Shorter one day deliveries may attract extra costs if our Skipper and crew have to travel on the same day as completing a full days work on the water. It is not unusual for our crews to work 12+ hours a day. Under these circumstances we have to pay them extra.
  2. The prices listed are for Manpower only. Additional costs will include, but not be limited to, travel expenses (to & from the vessel) food, marina fees, fuel & lubricants, any unforeseen running costs for the vessel, foreign taxes and VAT.
