This meeting was inaugurated by the IAAF in 2003 to replace the Grand Prix Final. For its first few years it was staged in the superb Stade Louis II stadium in Monte Carlo, just down the road from the IAAF headquarters. However it has now moved to Stuttgart for a minimum of two years.

The meeting format brings together the 8 top-ranked athletes in virtually every Olympic discipline – only the walks and 10,000m races are excluded from the programme – for a truly world-class finale to the international season. This year's version provided some enthralling competition.

Stuttgart is served by direct flights from the UK, and is ideas for a long weekend of athletics.
